






As the debate over college admissions policies continues, a new survey finds that
73% say colleges and universities should not consider race or ethnicity
when making decisions about student admissions.
78% of white adults,
65% of Hispanics,
62% of blacks and…
59% of (English speaking) Asians held this opinion.
When asked about criteria that should be considered for admissions,
67% of Americans thought high school grades should top the list.
In addition to race or ethnicity,
81% say that colleges should not consider an applicant’s gender
68% say whether a relative attended the school should not play a role.
Interestingly,
57% say athletic ability shouldn’t factor in.
