Americans toss out about 600 pieces of clothing during their lives
or about 10 items per year
because of color issues, damage, and shrinkage.
A large part of this is can be attributed to the fact that
43% rarely or never read the care instructions on their clothes prior to doing the laundry
and
21% never or rarely follow the instructions on the tag.
29% report almost never using spot treatments to clean clothing after a spill.
No wonder so much clothing gets thrown away.
